Our Guide to AA Meetings Las Vegas

Get Options Among the Most Well-regarded Vegas AA Meetings

For newcomers trying to find AA meetings Las Vegas has an abundant selection to offer. Sin City has meeting times for men, women, and co-ed groups. The only requirement to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is a sincere desire to stop drinking alcohol. The 12-step model offers wide community support, with meetings available every day of the week.

Icarus Nevada understands the value of the 12-step meeting and the safety net it can provide. We often recommend attending Alcoholics Anonymous groups as part of clients’ aftercare plans after addiction treatment. AA meetings are an excellent place to socialize with others in recovery and to help with accountability and avoid relapsing.

We invite you to join us to discover some of our favorite AA meetings in Southern Nevada and learn the meeting place and time for each.

Trigger Alert Regarding Alcoholics Anonymous

AA Meetings Las Vegas

Although we believe Las Vegas AA meetings are important for maintaining sobriety, we also acknowledge some things that can trigger a few clients. For instance, the name Alcoholics Anonymous uses “alcoholics,” a term that can be stigmatizing.

Similarly, their program language Alcohol Use Disorder as “alcoholism,” another word that we try to avoid. We’d also acknowledge that Icarus offers spiritually neutral support for our clients; AA requires an admission of the need for a Higher Power – something that not all people feel comfortable with.

Despite these differences in how AA handles some aspects of its program, we still believe an AA meeting can successfully provide support.

Why Are AA Meetings in Las Vegas So Important to Recovery?

AA Meetings in Las Vegas

Las Vegas did not earn the nickname “Sin City” by accident. It’s a well-known destination for tourists who flock to the city for the bright lights, loud music, and vibrant energy.

Some visitors come for gambling, drinking, using legal marijuana, and participating in other vices. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the temptations.

But it’s also a pretty large metro area with a population of over 659,000. When you add Las Vegas residents to those who live in all of Clark County, the total population is over 2.99 million. The densely populated city and outlying communities mean big city problems.

The high energy, urban environment can mean different things: increased stress, mental health issues, high home prices that cause financial strain, and substance abuse. The relative availability of drugs and alcohol can increase the odds of people drinking to cope with the pressures of everyday life.

For some, attending an AA meeting can be the support they need. With meetings scheduled across many places, times, and days, even busy service workers who cater to tourists until the wee hours of the morning will find a suitable meeting to attend.

For many, AA is the lifeline they need to pull them back from the brink of addiction use disorder and back into a safer place.
